For Christmas I received a 19 inch high def television with a maximum resolution of 720p. For a while I was using the component cables that came with my Xbox 360, but since I recently acquired a HDMI cable, I've been using that. When I was using the component cables the maximum resolution was 720p, but with the HDMI cable the resolution automatically adjusted to 1440x900 pixels @ 60 Hertz. The most obvious change is that the picture amazing now, but I was wondering, could it be better?
How does a 1440x900 pixel resolution compare in clarity and sharpness with 1080p? With larger TVs, i.e. 30 inch, 42 inch, 50 inch LCDs, would the pixel resolution be higher and how high might they go?
P.S. Is there any major difference between LCD and Plasma screen TVs?
