Hello Psypokians. :)

I know...I'm a lowly normal member, but I have great ideas, and I want to make a little guide to help you all. (hopefully it'll be stickied) I didn't find anything like this anywhere. There's how to make simple sigs, but no guide on THIS. So I'm gonna show some of you curious artists how to make "brushes" in Microsoft Paint.

Now some people on this site use Microsoft Paint (like me) to make their sprites. This means we cannot do THAT many things compared to some who use GIMP and other programs. One thing, and a very big thing is that they can make these brushes to give textures and cool colorful effects to their art. One answer, download GIMP and solve ALL of your problems, unless you're like me and you CAN'T download it for some lame and stupid reason. This doesn't stop us from making brushes though. ;) I've figured out how.

Okey doke. I'll turn it over to the pics to tell you.

Cool huh? 8-) Well yes, you can make lots of awesome designs with this tactic in paint, but with my example of the smiley thing, try to NOT do that. Use colors that go together well like red and orange.

Using these brushes can make grass, magma, sand, water...AND it could be cooler than the spraybrush, but you can use the spraybrush IN your brush.

So remember the steps:
    1. Make a scribble
    2. Select it
    3. Hold shift, then click and drag.
    4. Make an awesome work of art!

The original scribble is your "brush". One thing to do is try out brushes and make a brush sheet. Like one of these. Yes, as the tag says, you MAY borrow my works.:)

Image

The tag on your sheet shouldn't be necessary unless like me you're giving out to the public. And the whole "alien" thing that the Swampert's blabbing about is just 'cuz I'm weird.:P

OK...that's all I have to say. Feel free to ask questions. :D

ThIs WaS sWaMpErT20, bRiNgInG yOu ThIs GuIdE.

Those brushes are AMAZING. I tried them, and they look pretty accurate. The magma/lava looks like real fire. Some aren't as good, like the water. Anyway, how did you do it? :D

You think they're THAT good?!

Well, I just experimented with them all on a basic terrain. :| It's just that. 8-) Experimentation.

There all really good! (Except the water :? ) Especially the Magma Lava and Rainbow
But maybe you could show some examples of each brush being used, like you did with the primary example. Otherwise, in the words of Borat, "Very Nice!"

Well, I can't fault the tutorial's style and content, but the idea is fairly weak. Paint brushes look awful, and the limited number of settings make practically any sig that comes of it look horrific.

Please, just download GIMP or Photoshop or whatever. If you can't (and god knows why), just ask someone who does have a decent art program to make the sig for you. It's painful to have to look at Paint signatures.

I would like to say, however, that the guide is very well-written. The sample brushes you gave could actually also be used for some Paint maps, which is always a fun diversion.

When you invert that first page, you se a regular Swampert. Anyway, I'm one of the newer spriters who didn't know that trick. I'm sure it will help me a lot!

Try using the trick with one of the brushes. It looks realistic! They are completely and totally amazing, Swampert20! They may help me when I make my comic.

Credit to this awesome sig goes to eon.
