Now that, is a great drawing.

It's not pokemon style, it's completely different, and it's cool.

The hands/arms remind me of the Grinch for some reason haha.

@ Seeker: I agree anthro Pokémon are awesome. You can find more of them at deviantART (just type that on Browse). They even have a community for human-like Pokémon (it's called "Pokémon Gijinka", if I'm not mistaken). But no, I didn't spend that much time on that pic, but I have to admit his arms and hands did give me a bit of a hard time. Thank you. :)

@ ShinyHunter07: Why, thank you! It's just a matter of preference, I think; some people prefer Sugimori's, while others the "beast" one; when I draw creatures I tend to the second, but I worship artists who can mimic Sugimori's style (something I've been trying to do, actually).

I have more drawings I want to show you guys. This time I'm trying my hand at "fake Pokémon", mostly because Spriting (more specifically, splicing, recoloring and altering) is at stake. If I understood correctly, making fusions and recolors using the Pokémon in-game sprites (or any game for that matter) is now considered infringing copyrights. And since I honestly have no patience to sprite original pictures using the touch pad, I decided to try and mimic Sugimori's style.

Another reason for why I did it was because these particular creatures weren't coming out how I wanted, and since I wanted to draw in Pokémon-style (I've been digging artists who can do that for quite some time now), I gave it a try. One thing you should know, though, is that these monsters aren't supposed to be, nor are fake Pokémon, but original creatures of Galar's "beastiary"; I just made them look like Pokémon because, as I said, I'm working on simulating Sugimori's design. And also for great justice, really, since this is a Pokémon board, and I like Pokémon and stuff: I even gave them Pokémon info. ;p

None of them have names, yet, I'm afraid. Anyway, let's see them. Remember to click on the thumbnails to full-view the pictures.



This spikey fella is a pure Electric-type. Originally it's a giant wolf that creates thunderstorms, and lives amongst those; it's kinda related to Card Captor Sakura's "Thunder" card and Raikou from Pokémon. The design was inspired on Poochiena's, but I had the character Hatake Kakashi from Naruto in my head when the idea stroke. That's why this thing, in the Pokémon universe, is able to learn, besides the obvious Thunderbold and Thunder, moves like Substitute, Copycat, Foresight, Flamethrower and Hydro Cannon/Hydro Pump/Water Gun (haven't decided yet); if you have no idea who Hatake Kakashi is, then you probably won't get the movepool and design at all.




This two-face mongoose is a random idea, and its appearance was somewhat based on Zangoose (that rules, by the way) and Linoone. I wanted a simple design, that also depicted its natural ability: this thing is able to create copies of its foes to distract them while it flees. It is also known to create distorted copies of people just to spite them. It is a pure Dark type, naturally distrustful, but turns mischievous when attaches to its trainer. I haven't thought of its movepool yet, but it should learn Fling, Nasty Plot, Double Team and Role Play.




Last, but not least, my favorite out of the three: a Ghost/Dragon, or Dark/Dragon (haven't made up my mind) type, a remake and improvement of a very old "fakemon" called "Spookem", and heavily based on Darkrai (what can I say? I effing love Darkrai's design, specially his weird-looking hair). I haven't come up with a background for it yet, but you can probably find this thing lurking around cementaries and spooky locations like that, and places where dragons inhabit. I't's most likely neutral, very mysterious (like most Ghost and Dark types) and shut. I'll probably give it moves like Grudge, Shadow Claw, Nightshade, Crunch and Dragon Rush or something.


There we go. I honestly want to come up with more, 'cause these were very fun to do.
