Most trainers believe that when they catch a Pokemon it becomes their friend rather than just a possession, and that it begins to obey the trainer after some time working as a team. However, it is the belief of some that Pokemon are meant to be servants and to be used as creatures of war.
An old legend speaks of an object that can force any Pokemon to follow any command that is ordered to them. Many believe it to be poppycock, but some have kept the tale alive for many years and recently Dr Avery Rushton has begun researching into the legend after hearing it from her grandfather. Personality:
General Demeanor: Generally cheerful, Axel loves to joke around and play pranks on people. However, Axel is equally capable of being serious when the time calls for it. Often tries to defuse tense situations, but fails just as often as he succeeds. Axel can lead if needed, but he generally prefers to follow; people tend to not blame you as much for your mistakes then.
How he sees himself: Axel views himself as a nice guy, fun to be around. He knows his moral boundaries and sticks to them as a matter of honor. He sometimes wonders if he should be more serious, but usually winds up dismissing this thought as stupid.
Best Qualities: Sympathy, all-around niceness and amiability.
Worst Qualities: Not willing to take much responsibility unless fun is involved; covers up his true feelings, unbeknowst to even himself.

Background:
History: Axel hails from Canalave town, where he often watched the large cargo ships and cruisers leave for parts of the world unknown to him. There, he learned to care for pokemon, growing close to his newfound friends as he did so. His parents were librarians at the Canalave Library, so he also grew to have an encyclopedic knowledge about many pokemon, as well as a general knowledge of world affairs. When he turned 13, his parents gave him his first pokemon: a Beldum, which has since grown into a Metagross. Axel trained relentlessly; he caught many Pokemon in an effort to do what all the boys in his town could only dream of: become a Pokemon Master.

Eventually, Axel managed to raise a team. He was neither the best or the worst of the trainers; but in spite of his mediocre status as a trainer, Axel decided to leave Canalave to challenge the Pokemon League. He traveled across Sinnoh, challenging Gym Leaders, trainers, and ne'er-do-wells alike. Axel's skills continued to grow, and he did the one thing few thought him capable of doing: he began to win. Soon enough, Axel had collected all the badges of Sinnoh, and he went to challenge the Champion.

Needless to say, Cynthia crushed Axel's team. Axel got up off the floor with his Pokemon, walked across the field, and shook her hand. Noticing his good attitude in spite of the fact that he had been beaten so badly, Cynthia congratulated him, and challenged him to travel to other regions and challenge their Leagues in an attempt to grow even further. Axel nodded, and set off on his next adventures...

Pokemon:
Metagross
Attacks: Earthquake, Bullet Punch, Psychic, Iron Defense, Flash Cannon, Stealth Rock
Gender: N/A
Personality: Metagross is rather serious, being a metal-based Pokemon. He's very intelligent to compensate, and can often anticipate Axel's commands. As Axel's first Pokemon, Metagross is very protective of his trainer; loyalty is an understatement to him. He doesn't understand why Axel needs more than him; he knows that he is powerful.

Ampharos
Attacks: Signal Beam, Rain Dance, Thunder, Fire Punch, Power Gem, Light Screen
Gender: Male
Personality: Ampharos reflects the part of Axel that wants to succeed in battling. His moveset allows him to maximize his electrical abilities, and he constantly practices fighting, even when Axel isn't present. However, he knows how to relax; he just doesn't want to, usually.

Feraligatr
Attacks: Ice Punch, Surf, Dragon Dance, Crunch, Superpower, Double Team
Gender: Male
Personality: Ever since Axel caught him as a Totodile, Feraligatr has been a big goofball. He plays jokes and doesn't take battling seriously, preferring to spend more time having fun. Feraligatr is fearsome when unleashed, but his motivation (or lack thereof) is a hindrance to his potential. So, instead, he's the comic relief of Axel's team.

Gyarados
Attacks: Ice Beam, Bite, Hydro Pump, Surf, Dragon Dance, Thunderbolt
Gender: Male
Personality: He exemplifies the stereotypical Gyarados: violent and powerful. Gyarados has horrible anger issues, and Axel has tried to mellow him out a bit over time. His efforts are semi-successful; Gyarados is now capable of relaxing, but only when he's been in the water for a while. He doesn't obey his trainer sometimes, wondering if Axel has truly commanded his respect and obedience.

Armaldo
Attacks: Aerial Ace, X-Scissor, Crush Claw, Swords Dance, Ancient Power, Protect
Gender: Female
Personality: Armaldo is a quiet; she prefers to be by herself a lot of the time. Her solitary nature may be due to the fact that she spent millions of years spent trapped as a rock. She trusts Axel, and the other Pokemon on the team, but few others are able ot earn her trust. Armaldo, though an aquatic creature by nature, prefers heavily wooded areas.

Skarmory
Attacks: Aerial Ace, Fly, Roost, Steel Wing, Night Slash, Spikes
Gender: Female
Personality: Skarmory is a wild creature. She does best when she is free, soaring among the clouds. She prefers to be alone when flying, but loves company otherwise. As Axel's main mode of transportation, she has amazing endurance. She's one of the few who can get near Gyarados without being attacked - perhaps because they were caught in the same forest?

Quirks:
Favorite Food: Unagi Sushi
Favorite Place: Anywhere there's a beach or a library.
Pet Peeves: Trainers who can't take a joke about anything.
Least Favorite Season: Winter ruins books and makes beaches too cold for swimming.
Worst Memory: Being stuck in a crevasse with a nest of Ekans nearby.

Eye color: Green
Face type: Rounded nose, almond-shaped eyes,and thin cheeks. Hair ends halfway through eyebrows
Other physical features: Certain teeth filed to a complete point, Pale complexity
Clothing style: sweatpants or baggy jeans, sweat jacket, and dark green long-sleeved shirt
Speech style: Slowly and deliberately some of the time, but mostly a moderately fast-paced speech. American, and generally doesn't use slang. Only when he's at a loss and has no other alternatives.

Personality
General demeanor: Lighthearted, tries hard to get good first impressions on people. He hates seeing his pokemon damaged heavily, so he knows if they've lost a battle very clearly. He can become a bit arrogant at times, however.
How he/she sees himself: A slightly funny person, although he knows he can be a bit evil at times. He openly admits that he enjoys be cruel to people who he deem deserve it. And only maybe three things ever saw him be at full anger. it wasn't pretty for them. In fact, they didn't survive.
Best qualities: Lighthearted despite his outer personality, he can also easily adapt to new situations. He generally has a few great friends.
Worst qualities: Can come off as slightly 'evil' to those who just meet him; and obsession with Gengar and canines filed so that they can draw blood don't help. Aside from a few friends who he's great around, he can be anywhere from friendly to completely blank to nasty around other people. He tries to be friendly, but if he doesn't like someone relatively quickly, he tries to warn them off by just acting bored around them. If they continue to pester him, he can get very nasty.

Background
History(I was tempted to break this into sections, so I would like this to be detailed): Terry, surprisingly, was very happy and caring in his early years. Then something happened while he was still young; he never figured out the details, but he knows that something angered people with a lot of power. His parents knew too much or revealed a secret or something along those lines. Hits were placed on both of them. In their final days, they taught Terry how to battle with Pokemon so that, should the time come, he would be prepared. he immediately took a liking to the ghost pokemon Gastly. Later that week, in the middle of the night, a government official with three pokemon busted in. His parents fought bravely, but stood no chance against the assassin's pokemon: Tyranitar, Dragonite, Salamence, Flygon, Gyarados and Gallade. Terry was forced ion to place with a psychic type attack and had to watch his parents die. As soon as Gallade's focus dropped, he attacked with all his rage channeled in to battling with Haunter, who had evolved earlier. Haunter seemed to pick up on his trainer's grief and, somehow, evolved in to Gengar. Gengar was nearly as furious as terry; his parents had raised them both well. Against the enraged ghost type with a full stock of Shadow Ball, and Shadow Punches, they all crumbled. Later, terry wondered at how it was possible. From that day forward, terry committed himself to becoming a great trainer, in honor of his parents.
