Well, okay, I gave you praise anyway. But there were still some things I had to say on the bad side!

Here's another question - which part of stories do you find the easiest to write?
Personally I'm prefer writing the middle of stories, climatic scenes and such. I can't write beginnings or ends, which is why my current thread is merely random scenes

The beginning and ending of a story can be tricky to roll onto or off from the dilemma. I have trouble rolling into a good dilemma from any beginning, I write the middle first, then the beginning, then th beginning of the end, fit some more in the middle, then finish the end off.

The middle's the hardest for me. I always have a great way to begin and end a dilemma, but the details in the middle are tricky to write down.

The beginning's always the easiest for me. Once I start getting into the middle, usually I haven't planned ahead enough- although I'll usually have part of the end all planned out. For my latest story, I've been outlining the entire story to make that easier, though.

Beginnings are easy for me, because on the whole that is my favorite part of any story. In the case of anime for example, I often just watch the start of many series, if only to get a feel of them.
After a while, if the beginning is done well enough, I can actually see the ending very clearly.
It is middles that give me a hard time, but due to the fact that outlining on paper kills my stories for me, it can't be helped much.

Banov, I forgot to ask, after seeing chapter 1, do you understand why putting details on paper is the trickiest part for me?

...Not really? Maybe our thinking to writing process is different, but before I write I tend to have everything already written to the sentence in my head- I spend free time thinking up exciting ways to describe everything so that when I sit down and write there isn't much thinking to do.

Um, I'm a bit new to fanfics, and I've only got one, so my opinion isn't really important.
I find it easier to write action scenes than beginnings. Introducing stuff is hard, but action almost writes itself.
When I write my fan fic's new chapters, I often have planned bits of it in my head during the day at school or whatever. In my story, the evacuation theme and the undead in Saffron were swimming about in my head all day. The chapter titles are impossible though, since trying to think up an appropriate yet not corny title is brain-tumour inucing. It took me ages to think up "Stench of the Dead", and I still think that it sounds lame.
As for the ending, I have no plans for that. I will continue until the plot becomes unfeasibly ridiculous. As for killing off my character, I've not decided yet what happens to him, but I can definitly say that it won't be glorious/amazing/heroic.
A new topic idea: What is the thing that attracts you most to writing or reading fanfics?
I personally like typing my fanfic because it's just about the only creative outlet that I have. I can't write music, I can't draw, and writing by hand depresses me. When I'm writing my fanfic, I'm releasing all my ideas and daydreams (Yes, I do daydream about zombies!). Also, the feeling of adding on a new idea is just, how should I put it, liberating. That was my two cents.

Well, I write pokemon fic to make myself happy. There are very few fics actually written in the style I enjoy reading so I decided to make one myself .

I write because sometimes a story just pops into my head and, until I get it down on paper or mircosoft word, it just keeps repeating itself over and over again.

Same as Dave. My brain, it makes these stories all the time on me... and once I write/draw it... a new one comes in to replace it....

I have a book just for story ideas alone that I carry around with me. I dedicate a page to each idea so I can add more and more detail to it if I think of more to it.
I usually think of the beginning and ending first, so the middle is hardest for me. But for one of my stories I never thought of an ending so I'm basically just waiting for more inspiration.
Personally, I think writing fan-fictions is way harder than writing original stories. For fan-fictions you have to be careful about how you portray a character because everyone, other fans, knows who each character is for the most part. This makes it easy to be accused of being out of character. Where as in orignial pieces you create your character and portray them in your own way, enabling you to sway the reader in your favor.

I don't write pokemon fanfic to use the characters from the anime or manga for the most part. I like just playing in the world of pokemon and making my own characters and plot, using mainly pokemon from the first two sets of games...

I have a story forming in my head, but I haven't written it yet. I was going to write the prologue first and then post it, to see what people think about it and if they have any ideas for events. (I've got some parts planned out, but it's not set in stone yet.) What do you think of that?
(I also saw a rule saying to have some of your story written down before you post the beginning. Would I be breaking that rule by just making a prologue?)

Well, if you are making a prologue to see if people want you to write it, no. The suggestion is there so authors don't write one chapter and then say, "Nuts to this."

Right, I'm new to this whole fanficness, I've read the rules and all, but if I make any mistakes, do point them out,
I've not bothered with a kind of RolePLay intro, whereby you talk about "such and such happened three years ago and since then, bla bla bla." I'd prefer to just let it all unfold during the story.
I haven't got a dead set plot in my head, but I have a jumble of ideas, and they only come together when I'm writing, so, despite the fact that it is a "trap that many fall into," I'm confident that I have the skills and equipment to work round it. (Lovely analogy, no?)
I have a plot, but it will only come together after a few chapters, so just wait and see.

Hi everybody!
Just wanted to say that it's great when you read and review new stories, like oh I dunno, North saskatchewan river...
(clever plug, eh?)
But seriously (or is it? ) I'd really like to build up NSR because it's one of the few stories I wrote that I like. And now for a question! Is it just me or is that common where you can write loads of stuff, half of which is probably not that bad but like 99% of it you look at, figure it sucks and throw it out? Just curious because I do that all the time and it's so frustrating because as a result I'm barely producing any work.

I do that with everyone of my books. I have this great plan, find a load of flaws in it, and change it so much that the original idea becomes warped and near non existent.

I just wanted to post to say that I will have a new chapter of Fable done by the end of this month . Now that I have a laptop things should be easier . One of my aunts, whose nursing years helped me really start to think of having a story starring a Nurse Joy, has gotten very sick and can no longer feed herself and is getting worst all the time...
In some small way, me making this story the best it can be makes me feel better
