What does probation do to your profile?

You can't have an avatar. That's about it really.

I think it also kicks you off a team your on. Like team inferno I can't get in anymore. Also what does it mean to be a Fail?

Fail: Banned user. Nothing else to say about that... Meh.
Illiterate: Well, this is also a banned user. I think it's someone who disobeys the rules, but accepted the agreement (to obey them) in the first place.

Probation is a sign that the moderators and admins are going to be stricter on monitoring your behaviour. It's not just "losing your avatar". We're more likely to ban you if you don't clean up your act.

And for the record, Illiterate means someone who cannot read or write. This person has had a blatant disregard for the rules simply because they have not read them. It is their own fault, all the rules are available on each page by clicking the link at the top.
