I'd say that the best artists/ bands IMO are Buckethead, Nirvana, AC/DC, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Trivium, Three Days Grace, Led Zeppelin, and SOAD. (Lol at Cigaro from SOAD).

think i'll have to say soundgarden or pearl jam. Audioslave is a good candidate too. Chris cornell and eddie vedder are the best singers and mike mccready and kim theyil are some of the best guitarists i've ever heard. Robin trower and warren haynes are brilliant too.

I listen to so many different bands on a regular basis that it's hard to choose favourites, but these would five would probably fit the bill...
1. Red Hot Chili Peppers
I love this band more than I've ever thought it was possible to love four men I have never met. Their music, to me, is fantastic beyond belief. I've based my own bass playing style on a lot of funk stuff, but Flea stands out as my biggest influence.
2. Streetlight Manifesto
I am a massive ska fan, and Streetlight Manifesto are the best ska band, as far as I'm concerned. Their lyrics and the complexity of their music combined with their raw power blows my mind, and I will listen to their music until I am deaf, dead or mental.
3. Reel Big Fish
Another amazing ska band, certainly the crowning glory of the third wave. This band inspired me to learn trumpet, taught me to laugh at myself and how to be a good showman. It was this band, along with RHCP, that taught me that the friendship between bandmates is the most important factor to any musical outfit, and without it, you're doomed to fail.
4. Ben Folds Five / Ben Folds (Solo)
I can't really put into words how fond I am of this band, and Ben Folds' solo music. The arrangement of the music and the lyrics, as well as the mesmerizing pecussion, along with mind melting basslines, topped off by Ben Folds' seemingly surgically enhanced piano playing. Superb.
5. Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Another fantasic ska band, credited with the creation of the skacore sub-genre. The raw, gutteral power of Dicky Barrett's voice accompanied by a thunderous horn section and earth tremoring drums gives this band the momentum to turn the entire space time continum into a giant trombone.

Well, hard to choose one band ... so it would be either Deathstars (the singer is the one in my avatar), Marilyn Manson, Hypocrisy or Pain.
