Last weekend, we upgraded to phpBB3. In order to get an idea of what still needs to be worked on, since so much has changed in the past few days, I'm starting a new Global for you all to discuss things. That said, time for some copypasta:

PSYBUCKS ARE NOT YET COMPATIBLE

Don't worry, they're all safe and sound. Hopefully there will be a cash mod next month.

Anyway, enjoy the new forums; poke around and such. Note that

HTML IS GLOBALLY DISABLED

This is PHPBB's doing, not mine. To make up for it, here's a few new BBTags to help out:

Code:
[center]TEXT[/center] to center text

[center][img]url.png[/img][/center] to center an image.

Looking into removing the max character limit. Now, for the questions Kasey was so nice to cover for me the first time around:

DON'T ASK THESE QUESTIONS

"HOW DO I WORK THIS???"
Just like before. The basic system hasn't changed at all. The biggest changes are things you won't ever see.

"WHY DID YOU DO THIS???"
Because I can. Because I hate you and want to make you suffer. Because I hate myself and wanted to suffer through this process for an entire weekend of no sleep, just before moving back to college.

"DID IT REALLY TAKE THIS LONG????"
Yes, it really did take a whole weekend. I had to recreate the entire visual template to make the forums look like our forums. Oh, and those icons next to the forums that are unique for the forum? That's actually a MOD for phpBB2. The mod doesn't exist for phpBB3. I had to hack those things in myself, thank you.

"WHY CANT WE GO BACK TO THE OLD STYLE????"
Because forums don't work that way. The new forums are not backwards compatible with the old ones.

"DID MY POST COUNT DISAPPEAR?????"
I can make it happen if you want to complain.

"WHERE ARE PSYBUCKS????"
Coming when the Cash MOD for phpBB3 is finished. Hopefully next month.

"WHERE'S OUR GENDERS???"
Sitting in my pile of "stuff to try to hack back onto the boards"

"HOW DO I MAKE POST?????"
INTERNET! INTERNET!

"HOW I USE TAGS????"
HTML is no longer allowed. I don't like it either, but suck it up. You can use BBCode to bypass this. If there's something you need HTML to do still, TELL ME and I'll make BBCode to pull it off.
Code:
[b][/b] [u][/u] [center][/center]

"WTF WHY DO WE HAVE USERGROUPS?? DOES THIS MEAN I CAN BE A MAWD OR ADMIN?!?!??!?!"
.. what usergroups? ?(°_o)/?

"WILL WE GET THE OLD TEAMS BACK????"
LolololololololololololololololNO

"WHY ARE ALL THE NAMES COLORED?????"
Because that's how it works now. And it's rather nice to see ranks by color if you're one of those visual-types.

"Y IT SAY I HAV 2 REACTIVATE PW????"
Because I'm trying to prevent you from becoming a part of the forums again. Alternatively,
<Jiggz> not every password transfered over correctly

So, I'll see about genders and removing the max character limit on posts. Please post any other problems here.

So overall, are you happy with upgrading to phpBB 3.0.0? I have a forum of my own that's still on phpBB 2.0.22, and I'm thinking about upgrading it, but I'd just like to hear your thoughts.

It has its pros and cons. Krisp hates the new Admin Panel with a passion, but I believe FireStarter is quite happy with it. I like the extensive amount of flexibility, though it was a bit of a hassle at first. Searches have to be reindexed, which keeps timing out, but I might be able to work around it.

All in all, I'd personally say the upgrade was worth it. Not perfect, but worth it.

Yeah, I heard that the Admin Panel had quite a lot of changes to it, resulting in people either loving it or hating it to bits. I don't mind HTML being globally disabled, but you've done a great job restyling the template to match that of phpBB2.

Just out of curiosity, why did PHPBB decide to disable HTML? I mean, it can't hurt right? so why is HTML disabled? :?

Wow. Stylish, phpBB3. No diff, besides how the posts look like. And that there's [CURRENTLY, I HOPE] no BBCode.

Anyways, responding to tennis8668: <script> is an html tag. So, say:

[code]
//if the codebox ever appears again...
<script type="PHPScript">
/* lalala accesing database, hashing passwords, deleting entries */
</script>
[/code]

Just a possibility, pretty unlikely, but you never know.

BBCode is still here; in fact, it's all that's here, since HTML is gone. Make sure that you have the "Disable BBCode" box unchecked in your profile and when you're posting.

I converted my forum to phpBB3, and I understand Krisp's pain. Although I do love customising, the new admin panel edits everything to the absolute nth degree...

Hey Jigglypuff, just a little something I noticed...

Even though I have the BB code checked in my control panel under board preferences, under my posts it still says BBCode is off

I'm currently posting this message under P-L's permission set. BBCode is enabled, and signature is shown by default.

Go to Site

I have manually gone in and disabled and reenabled BBCode under your profile. Try now.

[s]http://www.psypokes.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=347878#p347878

I edited it earlier today (replacing the html src thingy with php), and it said "BB code is off".
Then, I went to it just now, attempted to edit, and it still said "BB Code is off".

Screenshot: http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o126 ... ttempt.jpg

And now, just as I am posting, it still says for options
BBCode is OFF (Off is in italics)[/s]

Problems resolved, I'm all good now.

wait, did we change the codes again?

Jigglypuff, I found where you can alter the max message characters!

Administrator Panel > General > Board Configuration > Post Settings > Posting > Maximum characters per post

Set the value to 0, instead of the default 60000.

Hope this helped.

Are we all aware that Jiggz probably knows how to use the ACP by now? Because, he is.

Our mods-in-training.
This is a closed group, new members can only join upon invitation of a group leader.

Sounds pretty self-explanatory to me. If you need to know more about it, then you'll be informed, or a general announcement will be made.
