Franz Ferdinand's "You Could Have it So Much Better." I buy everything on iTunes. Heck, that's the only album I've had since "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb" by U2. Both rock.

Last cd I bought was Chinese Democracy by good old GnR or should I say good new Gnr now.
Anyways theres just something about a well designed album cover that makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Metallica-Death Magnetic
Bought it the day it was released, although I can't remember when that was.
All in all I'd say it was a wise choice, but that's probably because Metallica is tied with AC/DC for my favorite band ever.

Death Magnetics is a killer album, my favorite after Master of Puppets.
And to validate my post I recently bought Chris Cornell's scream. I think I only really like one or two songs off of it but its over all listenable. (Just love made up words.)

I bought Siren Song of the Counter Culture by Rise Against. Excellent album, plus it was 10% off and came iwth free buttons.

I don't really buy CDs much, but about a year ago I bought the original trilogy of Star Wars sound track. I know it's practically all instrumental, but I like it. I hope to buy the Indiana Jones sound track soon.

And what's wrong with all instrumental music? Absolutely nothing. I have quite a few soundtracks roaming my iTunes, as well as a large amount of music for the concert band and symphony orchestra. Of course, keep in mind that I'm a music major in college.
The last actual CD I purchased was just three days ago, actually. "We Need Each Other" by Sanctus Real. It was the only CD of theirs I didn't own, and after seeing them live that evening, I had to go over and get the CD during the break between them and MercyMe. It is a fantastic CD, haven't stopped listening to it yet. And yes, I listen to Christian music.

Oh, glad I'm not the only person in the world who likes instrumentla music. What kind of music do you major in, like playing an instrument or what? I'm learning to play the trombone, but I'm only in 8th grade. Oh, and I listen to Christian Radio sometimes.

I like instrumental too, as long as we are talking about satriani and other such artists. Orchestra is nice as well but not exactly what I would listen to on a normal basis.

Satriani...I've never heard of that person. I don't much like Orchestra, either. I go more for exciting like the Firebird Suite, or soundtracks from actions movies.

khoufu, the Satriani flaming_fox is referring to is Joe Satriani, a famous guitarist. I'm majoring in music education in college, aiming to teach high school band in the future, hence why I have a large amount of band music. I enjoy most music for concert band, marching band, and symphony orchestra, but that's certainly not all of my musical tastes, just the part that I'm going to be teaching in the future. I do play percussion enough to get by, but I'm not planning to be a performer, I'm certainly not that good. (I'm a freshman in college)
flaming_fox, I wasn't referring to Satriani, but he is quite good. My roommate at school here listens to a lot of stuff like Satriani and Yngwie Malmsteen, so I've gotten exposed to a bit more of that this year.

But as a music teacher, wouldn't you have to be able to play the instruments fairly ok? My teacher can play almost anything she has a mouthpiece for, and she knows the fingerings. Is learning about the instruments part of the class(es) you're in for teaching music? Then again, her husband is a trumpet player/designer as his job.

Yeah, I have to take classes to learn how to play each of the instruments. I've only done one so far, though (ironically, it was Low Brass, so I can sort of play the trombone now ), so I can't do much other than my main instrument, which is percussion. See, to have that music major, I have to have my primary instrument and take lessons in that, as well as learning all the rest of the instruments. I could do the fingerings for any brass instrument, but I haven't learned much about woodwinds yet. By the time I graduate in four years or so, though, I'll be able to take care of almost any instrument well, as any good director should be able to do.

Good, then maybe you can replace my music teacher, since she's hoping to retire soon and go live in her home in Arizona. She plays Trombone in her husband's big band, and she loves Jazz.

lol, well I will definitely need a job, eventually. It'll be a few years before I worry about that too much, and besides, I have NO IDEA where I want to teach in the US. I might stay in Iowa, I might not, who knows. And that's awesome about your teacher. My parents both are musicians, so I've grown up with the music scene prevalent in my life.

I'm going to school for guitar repair next year. After that I will most likely go another year for band instrument repair, just to give myself a more viable career option. My family is about as tone deaf as can be but some how I manage to get by and hopefully I will be able to pay most of my bills as a performer.

Best of luck to you on that front, fox. I am not nearly dedicated enough to be a performer, and I respect you a lot for committing to that. And also, being an instrument repair-person is quite a valuable career too, and necessary for the well-being of my own profession. Can't have a band with no instruments.

Lucky your parents are musicians, my dad listens to music but can't really pick up on a beat unless he tries really hard, and has barely a sense of tone either.. My mom played trombone up til high school, but her band teacher was really mean, and her name fit her well. She embarrased my mom in front of the shole class so she quit; ironically, 20 years later, my cousin had the same music teacher and he quit trumpet for the same reason.

Blech, I hate stupid band directors. My dad was a band director, but he's retired now. He wasn't a stupid one, fortunately. Mom just plays in the symphony and runs the mini-school that the symphony runs. They both play a lot outside of their jobs too, which is cool.
also, flyleaf is quite good, but I don't have any of their stuff yet. Need to get around to that.

Cedar, we're getting off-topic. Should this go to PM or another board?

i'm actually kind of surprised no one had brought that up yet. lol. PM would probably be the most likely forum for such discussion.
Also, I enjoy what Rage Against the Machine I've heard, but I've never listened to very much at all. Mostly just the two Guitar Hero songs, lol. (See, I'm at least a bit on topic )
