gymnophobia- fear of nudity. I think my grandparents got this one. I swear, they just bout have a heart attack every time they see a girl in a bathing suit. Saying how improper it is to have that much skin showing, rofl. XP

Aphenphosmphobia - fear of being touched. That I can't imagine. No hugs ever.

Aurophobia- terrified of gold. heh, king midas sure got this one after a day or so of everything he touches turning to gold.

What happens when he touches gold?

I'd have to say nothing. If anything else were to happen (turns into not gold, explodes, universe ends, etc.) then he couldn't make contact with anything, for in the instance he turns something into gold, he is touching the gold. If the process would be reversed or something if he touched gold, then nothing he touched would turn to gold because it would revert immediately due to the contact of his fingers or whatevs. If anything else would happen, the myth would have to posit that and say he has an explosive touch rather than a golden one.

As the legend goes anything he touched turned into pure gold so as long as he touched gold that was like 20 karots or something like that, the 20 karot gold would turn into the pure 24 karot gold. Even if he were to touch something that was 24 karot back then any slight impurities in it would be erased and thus would be pure gold.

so what if he touched 24 karot gold with absolutely no impurities.

and i'm moribdly afraid of paper cuts. I've gone sky diving, play highschool football been slashed by a knife but the ideas of paper cuts freak me out :/

You act as if that word isn't commonly used? Compared to all of the other phobias posted in this thread so far, that is one you actually hear about in typical conversations. Particularly when it comes to racism or prejudice against other religions.

i don't get this/obsession with phobias. Everyones scared of something, and none are really that funny.

The only one that made me laugh was aibohphobia, such a twisted sense of humor there :p

I have much worse things going on in my head than fears.

Well, my wife has a very odd one . . . which we've had to deal with in creative ways. My wife is deathly afraid of Zepplins, dirigibles and/or blimps. When I buy a new dictionary, I have to go through it and black out pictures of these aircraft. I have a book on the Hindenberg disaster, it is in my bookshelf with the spine inwards so she doesn't see the title. If there's a show I want to watch (say on the Hindenberg or other Zepplins in general), I record it and watch it when she's not around. Have to be careful too when Goodyear commercials come on the TV.

So . . . can anyone find a name for that phobia? I haven't been able to yet.
