The forums could do with new moderators (or even jr mods) who are willing to post consistently, considering I don't even remember when the last time moderators got promoted was..

Well, that's true... Besides, there are some mods who haven't appeared in quite some time. Jr mods sounds like a good idea.

Dark_Muk was made a Gym Leader in 2010. Or maybe it was late 2009.

Yeah, but Dark_Muk is no longer among the Psypoke Staff. Not that all of the ones who are login anyway. There are actually only a few mods who check the site frequently. I understand that they might have other occupations, but as Dragon_Phoenix pointed out, we need some new ones to take over. Even if they are temporary.

Weren't we just discussing how the forums are too dead? Is it necessary to have more people moderating the tumbleweeds blowing through between the spurts of activity?

I'm definitely siding with Frost here. We just had another incursion of spambots, and that was stopped within a week. As long as members keep doing their fair share, the need for new mods will be low, if I may say so. Kind of like socialism, minus the fun of no-freedoms.

I agree with Frost, Black and White aren't that great. Activity went downhill ever since. I wasn't going to get BW2 until my friend said it'd be fun to play the games together with him and his mate. Probably less than a month later they both traded their games away. But yeah, the forums will eventually pick up, it's only a matter of time. There's not much to moderate, and if any one of the mods saw fit to check only once a day, moderating the whole forums as it is now would be a simple task. New moderators wouldn't know what to do with themselves.

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of replacing positions. It's just a little disparaging when very little of the forum staff seem to be around. It doesn't exactly encourage activity. I know that the forums aren't infested with spam or rule breakers and are pretty much self regulating which is why I suggested Junior moderators. I dunno it's just something I thought could probably give people incentive to start more exciting posts, give people something to post towards. Doing nothing and relying on past patterns just seems counterproductive.. *shrug*

Clearly a role of the moderators is to, well, moderate the forums and yeah, we certainly don't need any new folks to do that. But I think DP has a point in that there's more to it. From my memory of around 5 years back the staff started most of the interesting topics and kept things fun which encouraged further activity. Now I don't know if the users who were made mods were interesting and fun to begin with and whether that played a role in their being promoted or if the appointment made them try harder to keep things alive and fun. Perhaps there aren't any more cool people these days ;o
Maybe it wouldn't hurt to change things up. Get some younger folks. All the staff are old now :p

You cannot really blame BW2 for the inactivity. Other sites have a lot going on about them. Whereas we don't even have a rating center right now. Well, Cherrygrove and DP have actually made the point. It's not that we need more mods. But maybe we should replace some older mods who no longer login for various reasons with some new people. Of course, if there is no site activity, then we don't actually need mods anyway. Because even if the mods are active, they can't do anything on their own. They need help from the members. Well, this remains to be seen. Perhaps soon that is Christmas holiday we'll have more action in the forums. Then we can reevaluate some aspects of the topic.

If this is some roundabout way on asking to become a mod I highly doubt that it will happen.
Anyway the mods that we have are fine, and I know a few of them. I can honestly speak for myself a good reason why I was inactive for a good bit is because nothing was really going on in the game world. Yes I liked BW(2) but they weren't the best games of the series. I can take some blame for the fall of the rating center, as someone who was a former rater I just stopped rating teams. Maybe with some mod support we could get that going for the few who want to have teams rated.

Because even if the mods are active, they can't do anything on their own. They need help from the members. From the way I read that; you basically said "we need new mods", then you thought against it and said "its the members who aren't doing anything". The second part is right, I agree with that... Lol, I don't know. Well, I do get what you're saying. Maybe new mods who aren't that busy could start topics, is what you're getting at, but you do know it's getting to the holidays now, and if I had a life I probably wouldn't be here either lol. Anyway, that's not my decision and even if I was to decide straight away, I don't think new mods is the answer to solve this issue you guys think we're having. I'm against "replacing" the moderators that we have, because I know they're all mature, participate whenever they can, and can lay down the rules and not be awful about it. Some of the members here don't do anything but complain "oh, i'm leaving cause this forum is dead now wahwahwah", and apart from some people actually starting activities and trying to get everyone involved, some do nothing but the latter. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying anyone here has said that, but just check out the goodbye thread and possibly skip a few pages back and see what I'm getting at. Eventually you'll find it. People who have been constructive, they deserve a mod spot if any positions were handed out, in my opinion. Not the people complaining about it and doing nothing to help the forum in any way. I'm just going to go on a rant here. You said that other forums get more activity; are you referring to the most heard about pokemon sites where they have almost ten times the registered members? Because honestly, if we had that much activity and the amount of spam they produce, I don't think I'd ever like being here or even stayed for that matter. I stayed because even though this forum does get slow, look are what we're doing now. We're actually having a conversation in a topic and people are watching it. I've actually had a conversation with most of the people posting here in the past, and that's what I like about Psypoke. Very quickly, I got to know everyone here and I liked that atmosphere. I'm sure it was like that for most of the veterans. Maybe it's hard to put into perspective for you guys, because I've gained a liking to the forum because of the chats and friendships I've made there, not just the topics here and the friends I've made roleplaying and mucking around. The forum isn't as bad as you think. And if you think it does need some more activity, why not think of a few topics people would enjoy yourself? You don't need to be a moderator to give that a go. I know DP and Cherrygrove are being constructive, even Samurott posts topics mostly in general that actually asks for our opinions and starts a flow of chat. As for shinashu, I'm sure there are willing people who wouldn't mind rating teams if you'd like to get back into it. I was never great at making my own "advanced" teams and movesets myself let alone giving people advice, but I'm sure topics could be made to ask if anyone would like to have a go at it and get involved. In conclusion, if you think the forums need some elevation; start some topics, get people involved, PM your mates online of ideas and start something, talk and make activities that may interest other people as well. You don't need to be a mod to do that. Edit; and how dare you say i'm getting old, that's a terrible thing to say, cherrygrove!

You are quite right Crunchy on all accounts. The only reason I have never left permanently is because of the people that I have met on here. One thing that I do miss from the forums are the tournaments. Granted not very many joined up and it was usually the same ole crowd that competed, but those were the people that I got to know the best. Heck I have had the best battles I have ever had from people like Chef, EP, and R_R.
As for the revival of the rating center, I will consult with EP and see if we as a community can't spearhead a Battle Tower revival or at the very least the rating center.

@ Crunchy: Oi, oi, oi! Easy Cruncy! Don't kill me! I never, ever said that I don't like the forums. I actually love them. Even with few, we actually do things. The fact that we could be more is unrelated, at least for me. The mods are also trying their best, I'm sure. Don't say I'm not creating new topics. I've actually have made a number, and I'm trying to contribute to other topics as well. I may sound like I'm a complaining jerk, but in truth I make my efforts. Don't be so quick to judge me. Alright, maybe I didn't explain myself right. The reason I started this in the first place wasn't to flame the site, accuse the mods or anything like that. I just wanted opinions on a subject concerning something I care about. No more, no less. And what any of us in this topic said wasn't supposed to be an insult to anyone. Just ideas. I never said all of the things proposed here are right. And anyway, just look. This topic has reached 40 posts. I really am trying! Unfortunately, I was an inactive member for more than a year. I made my first attempts in posting this autumn. So I don't yet know the guys very well, and I don't know some things concerning the site either. But I'm trying my best to learn. I'm sorry if I sounded like a crybaby. But you shouldn't have rushed to judge me as well. Don't take offense in any of the above please. I just tried to clear any misunderstandings. @shinashu: Good to hear this. If you need help in anything, don't hesitate to ask me. I'm more than willing to assist.

@ChillBill Don't worry, I was worst! xD
Actually... BW was REALLY bad. My friend told me, and he let me play. It's just horrible. He came back to his old Soulsilver and Mystery Dongeon (This game beast!), and he sold his White. I heard they will remake RSE, maybe this will bring back more people! If they bring back the old Emerald Battle Frontier... there's already a thread about that, so... maybe.

Chill I don't think Crunchy said that you weren't making any effort, but I could be wrong. Just give it some time to pick up, and me a few days to get some ideas that I can put forward for the BT.

Alright. Then it's settled. Sorry once again for the confusion, especially to my no.1 mod. No hard feelings, I hope.

No need to worry, people. With somewhat-large power comes somewhat-large responsibility. I'm in it for the long-haul.

I never said that it was a bad game I'm just saying I wasn't overly fond of it like Platinum. The cut scenes and animations were really good in BW2.

Even more proof that this site is far from dead: in about 14 minutes, I would've technically been a member of Psypoke for one whole year. I've only missed about one week of my daily, once every 2-4 hours visits. I'm still here, and don't see myself leaving anytime soon.

Happy Forum Birthday, Samurott! Well, EP updated the walkthrough 9 hours ago and I see some action in general anyway. I guess that, until the next dead era, this case is closed. Feel free to post any other suggestions or opinions on the matter though. Just do me a favor: no more BW2 discussion, please. I think I've made a topic in the Unova Region for this purpose, go post there if you want. Thanks.
