I want to change my username to something more suitable for Halloween, but how do I change it?

you'd have to contact one of the admins, but they wont change your name unless you have a very good reason.

Well, the people who have changed their names are either moderators or admins, and Amphy said himself that he will notlet people change their names.

well I think that just stinks. any and all forums i've been to let you change your name at any time you want...

Yes, but 'any and all' forums you've been to will probably have a bunch of noodle-heads confused who's who because 10 minutes ago, you changed your name from 'Cubefreak101' to 'Phantom Rapist' and they don't know who's who.

Neo rephrased what I said, mainly because I beat him by 30 seconds.
And 'any and all' forums that let you change your name as Neo said will get confusing.

Changing the username causes confusion. When ShadowFlygon changed his name to Magus, no one knew who he was. I myself was like,

Im not letting people change their names for halloween as it creates too much work all at once, and then they all have to be changed back and I can't remember everyone's names.

As for at other times, If you ask nicely for a permanent name change we usually oblige unless you insult us in the process (see Chaos Weather Mage's post in Help for an example) but of course we usually point out to you that permanent changes causes confusion and generally loses you respect on forums.

Yup, name changing causes confusion, I remember alot of people going WTF?? with my name change. (And Neo's remerk at how my sn now ryhmes with hagus) As Amphy (Vamphire) said if you ask for a permanent change would be fine but you have to ask nicely. And also keep in mind that they don't want to do this all the time so to many PMs about name changes might just have the admins stop changing names period.

Wow. Yeah, I'm an Admin for another site, and It IS a lot of work just to change a name. Anyways, It's past halloween, so we're all good and back to normal.

Name changing is not difficult using phpBB. It's the HUNDREDS OF NAMES TO CHANGE that hurts.

Exactly. For halloween, if we had let anyone change their name, it would have basically meant one of us would have had to have sat their changing them all over and then all back again afterwards.

As for non-halloween times, we frown upon name changes but we still allow people to do them. But when people repeatedly ask for name changes we don't really like it. Another thing we don't like is people demaning them

Maybe there should be a topic in the General area along the lines of "Heads up, I've changed my name". Just a thought.

How about no? How about we all get lives and choose a name we can live with.

As Amphy stated, he's had that name for 4 years.

You're right, guys/gals. I mean why change your name? You chose it as the person you wanted to be. If you applied for a reading teacher for a school, but you got a Masters degree in Math, then why be a reading teacher?? Like me, for example. I chose CHARZARDRAKE, and that's who I am. Y be anyone else when I can be me?? Hey, I'm sure that we'd all like to be someone else at some time, but we just have to live with what we got!!!!!
